Job Title - Interventionist

FLSA Status: Exempt

Job Goals:

· To facilitate instructional and intervention strategies at elementary, middle and high schools.

· To coordinate educational programs and professional development activities designed to improve student achievement throughout the school system.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

2. Valid Alabama teaching certificate.

3. Minimum five (5) years teaching experience.

4. Ability to meet the suitability criteria for employment and/or certification licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457.

5. Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.

6. Successful experience working with academically at-risk students.

7. Proficiency in oral and written communication skills.

8. Effective interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on communication and collaboration with a wide variety of people and groups.

9. Ability to evaluate designated personnel, manage budgets, and develop curriculum and programming specific to the needs of at-risk students.

10. Knowledge of software and instructional resources to benefit at-risk students.

11. Ability to identify and solve problems as a productive team member.

12. Ability to organize and deliver professional development programs for school system personnel.

13. Ability to use technology to communicate, to plan and provide instruction, to facilitate student learning, to manage data, and to produce/submit required reports, correspondence, and/or financial information.

14. Physical strength, mobility, dexterity, stamina, and acuity to perform job responsibilities.

 15. Ability to be punctual and in regular attendance.

16. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may require.


Performance Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

1. Demonstrates support for the school system and its vision, goals and priorities.

2. Assists in coordinating educational programs throughout the school system.

3. Models appropriate and innovative use of technology for students and staff.

4. Utilizes innovative teaching techniques and technology as a teaching tool to plan and provide instruction; acts as a facilitator for students in the use of technology in the classroom.

5. Keeps informed of the latest research, trends, and innovations in the subject areas and disseminates this information to teachers, principals, other stakeholders, and colleagues.

6. Develops a mentoring relationship with teachers.

7. Coordinates the preparation, analysis, and submission of reports, studies, correspondence, and other appropriate documents as required.

8. Performs professional development of all staff as required.

9. Utilizes data from various databases to guide instructional decisions/data meetings.

10. Monitors student interventions at the assigned grade levels (e.g. elementary, middle and high school); progress monitors assigned students for their mastery of skills.

11. Collaborates with system technology staff and software companies for site visits and upgrades of all software.

12. Maintains a current, working knowledge of the instructional/intervention software packages and student data management programs.

13. Provides technical assistance and models appropriate teaching strategies for teachers in computer assisted programs or instructional software.

14. Collaborates with curriculum supervisors to align custom-created courseware and assessments to course of study content standards.

15. Prepares software reports and inventories in accordance with policies.

16. Conducts research in available software packages for at-risk students and communicates results to curriculum supervisors.

17. Provides collected assessment and instructional software data to appropriate school and system staff.

18. Collaborates with the school leadership team, school principal, Curriculum & Instruction Director, and other central office staff in disaggregating assessment data to improve programs and student achievement.

19. Attends workshops/conferences for continuing professional development in area of responsibility. 20. Maintains confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters in accordance with state and federal law.

21. Demonstrates initiative in identifying opportunities for improvement in areas of responsibility.

22. Engages in personal professional growth and demonstrates professional ethics and effective leadership.

23. Attends conferences and training sessions to improve skills and programs.

24. Responds to inquiries and requests in a timely and positive manner.

25. Maintains and submits required reports, records, and correspondence in a timely and accurate manner.

26. Uses effective collaboration skills to work as an effective team member.

27. Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local Board policies, and state, federal, and local laws.

28. Reports absences and takes leave in accordance with Board policies and procedures.

29. Performs any other job-related duties as assigned by Supervisor(s).


Terms of Employment: As established by the Board and applicable state law.

Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
