Chase Hardin - 2nd individual (Calculus)
Braden White - 3rd individual (Geometry)

4/25/17 The Debate team finished in 1ST PLACE in the Birmingham Area Debate League Tuesday afternoon!! Our #1 team of Jake Patton, Aaliyah Blankenship, and Cleah Woodward defeated the #1 Pell City team and now has the most wins of any MJ team. Aaliyah Blankenship finished 8th overall as an individual debater. Our #2 team also had a solid performance: 1st year debaters Sarah Hillard and Callie Richey earned Most Improved honors and Stephanie Carroll had her usual outstanding performance. Great job, debate team! debate 1st place

4/8/17 Sawyer Strickland and Jennifer Wilson participated in All State Band. Congrats to Sawyer on 1st chair in white band! Congrats as well to Jennifer on 20th chair in red band (out of 96 clarinets in the state). Mr. Cagle was elected ABA State Jazz division Chair-Elect. Great showing by our band leadership! 

4/8/17 Congrats to the Math Team! The Geometry Team placed 4th in the statewide contest a few weeks ago. The Comprehensive Team – Nadia Roberts, Braden White, Cody Standish, and Chase Hardin – placed 8th at the State 2nd Round Ciphering contest this past weekend. Way to go, mathletes!

1/28/17 Congrats to the Science Olympiad team for their accomplishments at the Jefferson County Science Olympiad competition. Trenton Naramore and Cheyenne Robb finished 1st in Chem Lab and 2nd in Materials Science. Rebecca Sullins and Cheyenne Robb finished in 3rd in Hydrogeology. Payton Adams and Hannah Glover finished in 3rd in Invasive Species. Good job!! 

1/28/17 Congratulations to Sawyer Strickland & Jennifer Wilson on being selected to the Alabama All State Band!

1/25/17 Art work by MJ students will soon be on display at the Birmingham Museum of Art!! Usually only one piece of art is selected from each school for Youth Art Month, but 5 pieces were selected from Mortimer Jordan this year! Congrats to Erin Newton, Ashley Dykes, Melissa Gentry, Emily Stephens, and Christian Henderson. Thank you to Mrs. Hyatt and Mrs. Travis for entering our students' work in the "Youth Art Month" show and for the work they do daily to guide our young artists.

11/30/16 Congrats to the Math Team for their 3rd place finish in the UAB tournament and to Garrett White for his 3rd place finish individually. Great job!!

11/25/16 Congratulations to Mr. Cagle & our Blue Machine Marching Band! They have been selected by both Fox6 Sideline & ABC Blitz as the Band of the Week! Watch the Fox6 video!

The Blue Machine Competed in Class AAA at the Pell City Marching Festival.  The Band, Color Guard, Dance Team, Majorettes, and Drum Major received Superior ratings. The Band and Dance Team won Best in Class awards. CONGRATS, Blue Machine!!

9/20/16 Congratulations to Brook Henson and Cody Standish on their excellent PSAT scores, which earned them recognition as National Merit Commended Scholars!
